FFVA Mutual is a Florida-based regional insurance carrier specializing in workers’ compensation since 1956. Rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best, we insure a variety of businesses in all major industry groups and write business in 10 states (AL, FL, GA, IN, KY, MS, NC, SC, TN and VA).
Our underwriting, safety and claim solutions help businesses succeed, improve safety practices, resolve claims quickly and return injured employees to work.

A Team That Inspires Respect & Confidence
Alan Hair
President & CEO
Alan Hair is responsible for the overall leadership of FFVA Mutual. His strong financial background and transformational management style positions the company for future growth and a leader in the workers’ compensation industry.
Prior to becoming the company’s president and CEO, Mr. Hair served as FFVA Mutual’s Secretary/Treasurer and CFO for 25 years overseeing all accounting and finance, information technology, risk management and personnel matters. He also participated in strategic and operational planning as a leading member of the executive team.
A licensed CPA, he is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he serves on the board of directors for the Florida Workers’ Compensation Insurance Guarantee Association, Orlando Sports Foundation and several other charitable organizations.
An Orlando native, Mr. Hair earned a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from his hometown’s University of Central Florida.

Bob Lehnen
VP, Underwriting Operations
Bob Lehnen is responsible for all underwriting, premium audit and billing operations. He joined FFVA Mutual in 2017 as Assistant Vice President where he managed the production and small business underwriters, identified opportunities for new business growth in our 10 licensed states and strengthened agency partnerships. A member of the executive team, Bob participates in long-term strategic planning and implementation of company initiatives.
Mr. Lehnen has over 30 years of Property/Casualty experience and has been part of various leadership positions within industry organizations and insurance carriers. A Wisconsin native and graduate of Carroll University, Mr. Lehnen is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and a Certified Risk Manager (CRM).
After years of colder weather in the North, Bob and his family love living the Florida life. While an official Floridian now, Bob is still an avid Packer, Badger, and Brewer Fan!

Fred Allen
VP, IT
Fred Allen leads the strategic direction and planning efforts of the IT department that provides innovative platforms and cost-effective technology solutions to achieve and further the company’s operational goals.
Mr. Allen joined FFVA Mutual in 2007 as a senior network administrator, advanced to IT Director in 2009, then to Vice President, IT in 2014. His diverse information technology experience encompasses more than 20 years in various IT roles within public, military, and private sectors, including multiple years as a consultant.
His leadership has brought about several significant initiatives: strengthening network securities, improving automated workflow processes, developing a companywide disaster recovery plan, relocating the data center to minimize data risk, and implementing mobile solutions for the safety department.
Raised in a military family that traveled worldwide, Mr. Allen attended Liberty University and ultimately decided to make Central Florida his hometown.

Halston Fernandez
Secretary & VP, Finance & Accounting
Halston Fernandez oversees all finance, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and risk management for FFVA Mutual. He also participates in strategic and operational planning as a member of the executive team. He joined FFVA Mutual as Controller in 2018 where he managed the accounting department.
Prior to joining FFVA Mutual, Mr. Fernandez spent six years in public accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Florida. His diverse industry experience during his public accounting career has a brought a unique perspective and innovative ideas to the company.
His professional leadership involvements include serving as an officer on the boards of Florida Specialty Crop Foundation, FFVA-AIM, Inc., and Third Party Registrations, Inc. and a board member of Florida East Coast Travel Services, Inc. He also serves as the Director of Finance & Administration for Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association.
An Orlando native, Mr. Fernandez earned a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Central Florida and a M.S. in Accounting from DeVry University.

Jose Ramos
VP, Safety & Loss Control
Jose Ramos leads FFVA Mutual’s safety and loss control team in developing forward-looking safety solutions that help policyholders manage risk, prevent employee injuries, create lasting safety cultures and improve their bottom line.
Since joining the company in 2007, Mr. Ramos has increased the size of his department more than threefold and doubled the number of on-site safety evaluations conducted every year. Through his leadership, FFVA Mutual now offers bimonthly webinars covering the latest safety topics and recently implemented iAuditor, a new reporting program used by safety consultants on ipads during on-site visits.
Mr. Ramos’ safety, security and risk management career spans more than 30 years working with insurance, pharmaceutical and Fortune 500 companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Century University of New Mexico and is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and American Society of Industrial Security.

Jose Ramos | VP, Safety & Loss Control
Leslie Sisk
VP, Claims
Leslie Sisk leads the 60-person claims department which includes claim adjusters and supervisors, a special investigations unit for fraud and medical bill reviewers. An accomplished professional, she has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry and has been involved in all phases of handling liability and workers’ compensation claims.
Ms. Sisk specializes in strategies involving team members, collaboration and processes resulting in the most positive claims outcomes for all parties involved. Her expertise in team member engagement, loyalty and customer service has served her well to provide quality claim management results.
She is an active member of the Association of Workers’ Compensation Claims Professionals. In her spare time, Leslie volunteers as a competitive travel softball coach for 11 and 12-year-old players, spoils her 5 grandchildren and enjoys riding her motorcycle.

Melissa Hide
VP, Marketing & Brand Development
Melissa Hide is responsible for the strategic marketing and brand development for FFVA Mutual. Her leadership style complements the company’s reputation as an industry innovator with a focus on employee and customer relationships.
Ms. Hide has managed marketing and branding efforts for professional business to business services for more than 35 years. Since joining the company in 2013, she has been instrumental in the corporate rebrand transition which included a fresh logo redesign, an updated tagline and byline, creative content, the design and development of all marketing collateral, and responsive website redesign.
A Florida State University graduate, Ms. Hide is a member of the American Marketing Association and Insurance Marketing & Communications Association.
