Our Philosophy

FFVA Mutual Claims Management Service is based on aggressive claims handling. Our company promotes timely payment of all benefits due, timely filings to avoid penalty assessments and comprehensive investigation to prevent fraudulent claims. Our claims management philosophy is driven by the conviction that time is money. From the time a claim is filed until it is closed, our claims management team responds quickly to the needs of the injured employee, the employer, and the medical provider to coordinate benefit delivery.

Claims Management Process

  • Toll-free claims reporting 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  • Once a claim is reported, the assigned claims adjuster team contacts the employer, the injured employee and the medical provider within 24 hours to determine the extent of the injury and to establish proper claim reserves.
  • One claims adjuster is assigned to manage all claims for an individual employer. This facilitates clarity in communication and assures a timely response.
  • FFVA Mutual's claims professionals take time to explain coverage, benefits, and the settlement process. Our outside claims adjusters investigate claims, explain benefits, and determine compensability and potential subrogation recovery.
  • Claims adjusters have a case count 30% below the workers' compensation industry standard. The reduced case count allows claims adjusters adequate time to assist the employer in implementing early light-duty return to work programs as well as manage medical treatment, with the assistance of an on-staff nurse, to minimize claim costs and to close claims quickly.
  • FFVA Mutual utilizes an efficient medical bill review process and cost containment program to reduce total medical dollars paid. This is accomplished through aggressive auditing, discounting of medical bills, and timely payment to medical providers. This also facilitates an early return to work for the injured worker.
  • Our claims adjusters have in-depth knowledge of the workers' compensation law, extensive experience in the litigation process and attend hearings and mediations.
  • FFVA Mutual's internal Fraud Investigation Unit is dedicated to working with the claims adjuster to investigate all potential fraudulent workers' compensation claims as well as perform background investigations and surveillance at the direction of the claims adjuster.
